As part of a working trip to Mangistau region, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov familiarized himself with the progress of the project to expand the port of Aktau in the northern direction. Implementation of the project is designed for 3 stages: construction of protective hydraulic structures, dredging and construction of dry cargo terminals. All this allowed to increase the port throughput capacity from 16.5 to 19.5 million tons. At the moment, the project is in the stage of final completion, works on the construction of service and production facilities, access roads to on-site engineering networks are underway. Also, the head of the government held a meeting on the activities of Aktau International Sea Trade Port. On the current situation, problems and prospects of development at the meeting were made by the chairman of the Committee of State Revenues of the Ministry of Finance D. Ergozhin, president of NKK. Yergozhin, president of NC “KTZh” A. Mamin, president of the sea port “Aktau” M. Yalbachev, At the meeting it was noted that the volume of cargo handled by the sea port of Aktau in the first half of 2016 amounted to 2 million 681 thousand tons. Compared to the same period last year, the transshipment of metal and grain increased by 41 and 177 thousand tons respectively. The volume of transportation of heavy-duty vehicles increased 14 times. To optimize the work processes, simplify and speed up the execution of documents and conduct a single state control by state services located at the checkpoint “Seaport”, a “Single Window” was created with the location of all bodies in one place and round-the-clock mode of operation of controlling state bodies. With the introduction of customs clearance on the principle of “one window” time processing of documentation has been reduced from 10 to 2.5 hours, which solved the problem of queues, which was acute at the beginning of this year. As the president of JSC “NC ‘KTZh’ Askar Mamin reported, the countries of the Caspian region by 2020 plan to increase port capacity by 1.5 times from 103 to 150.6 million tons. By that time the share of Aktau seaport in cargo turnover of the Caspian countries will grow from 26 to 34%. At the same time, the speakers raised a number of problems, the main among which is unprofitability of current tariffs. Following the results of the meeting, Prime Minister gave a number of instructions to the Ministry of National Economy and the Ministry of Investment and Development.
